Navigating Your Mental Health During the Holidays: Therapy Services Available

Lisa Deighton Psychotherapy

My name is Lisa Deighton, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO and a Certified Consulting Hypnotist with the National Guild of Hypnotists and I am here to support you in your journey to personal healing and growth. I offer help to adults and teens with issues pertaining to ADHD, neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self-esteem, work stress & burnout, life transitions, fears and phobias, grief & loss, addictions, and LGBTQIA2S+ community.  I firmly believe in the importance of connecting with your therapist, so you feel valued and understood. The therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of effective therapy paving the way for meaningful change and growth.  My goal is to create a safe space where you will feel comfortable enough to share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment.  My approach is mainly client centered and holistic, drawing from many modalities such as Mindfulness, Somatic, Solution Focussed, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, and Narrative. Depending on the needs of each client I also offer Hypnosis in conjunction with some of these modalities.

There is no one proven method of therapy, no one size fits all approach to treatment, because no one person is like the other.  I strive to build the trust and understanding with every client’s unique story and help them make sense of it.  I look forward to supporting you in your journey to wellness.  I do offer affordable rates depending on availability and specific clients’ needs.

The holiday season is often seen as a time of joy, celebration, and togetherness. However, for many, it can also bring added stress, anxiety, or feelings of loneliness. It can quickly get out of hand and become overwhelming with all the many holiday pressures.  Whether it’s the pressure to meet expectations, the weight of past memories, or the challenge of balancing unique family dynamics, the holidays can affect your mental well-being in unexpected ways.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling with your mental health this season, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to offer support and guidance through therapy services tailored to your specific needs.

Why Therapy Matters During the Holidays:

  • Coping with Stress and Anxiety: The holidays can bring about high expectations, both from ourselves and others. Therapy can help you develop tools to manage stress, set boundaries, and prioritize self-care.
  • Healing from Loss or Grief: The holiday season can amplify feelings of grief if you’re mourning a loved one or going through difficult transitions. Therapy provides a safe space to process these emotions and find healing.
  • Improving Relationships: Family dynamics can be complex, and spending time with relatives can bring up old wounds. Therapy can help you navigate family gatherings with more understanding and healthier communication.
  • Self-Compassion and Mental Wellness: With everything going on, it’s easy to forget to care for yourself. Therapy can help you build resilience and practice self-compassion during this busy time of year.

How I Can Help:

  • Individual Therapy: Whether you’re dealing with seasonal depression, anxiety, or just need someone to talk to, I offer personalized therapy sessions that give you space to explore and address what’s on your mind.
  • Flexible Scheduling: I understand that the holiday season can be chaotic. I offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate your needs, including virtual sessions for added convenience.
  • Tailored Strategies: Together, we’ll work to create coping strategies that are practical and effective, so you can enjoy the holidays while maintaining your mental and emotional health.

Remember, reaching out for support is a sign of strength. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health this holiday season, therapy can be a valuable resource to help you navigate these challenges.
