25 Years Remembered
Twenty-five years ago, our world changed forever.
In a single moment, Tyler was taken from us. There are no words for the pain of losing a child. Grief never leaves—it simply becomes something we learn to carry.
For a long time, I wondered how our family would move forward. Then I realized that while we could not change what had happened, we could choose what Tyler’s life would continue to mean.
What began in heartbreak became purpose.
That purpose led me to become a mental health advocate, write my memoir, I’m Still Your Mom, and found No One Stands Alone, a not-for-profit dedicated to connecting people with free mental health resources throughout Lambton County and Chatham-Kent.
Our grief also became a journey of hope for our three other boys. Together, we learned that love continues through compassion, service, and helping others. While we still carry the weight of losing Tyler, we have also seen how one life can continue to change many others.
Today, thousands of community booklets are placed in schools, libraries, hospitals, hospices, food banks, shelters, municipal offices, businesses, and other public spaces—offering hope, information, and connection to anyone who is struggling. Each one is a reminder that no one is alone and help is available.
Twenty-five years later, we still miss Tyler’s smile, his laughter, and the life he should have lived. We always will.
But his story did not end twenty-five years ago.
His legacy lives on in every conversation that breaks the stigma around mental health, every family that finds support, every young person who reaches out for help, and every life touched through No One Stands Alone.
